We've been asked what we do between matches at tournaments. Here are some of our pics from off the field taken at last month's Borneo 7s.

Matty's neck was hurting, so he iced it every chance he got.

We sit in the stands and watch the other matches. That's Rico on the lower left of the pic. He's our physiotherapist -- a very important part of the team!
Wolffie, Mark & Oli (Vice Captain)
This is Justin & Harry's attempt at a "candid" shot. Meanwhile, check out the gash on Mark's knee -- #ouch!
We talk about our next match. Those are Noel's (Team Manager) notes about the next team we're going to face and the tournament draw sheet.
We don't have to tell you that Rugby is tiring!!! So of course, we try to re-charge our batteries when we can. It would be nice to say we have a special area in the stadium where we can nap, but no, we just sleep in the stands. Haha!
Sometimes we have to do interviews. As Team Captain, Jake is usually the go-to guy for that. It's nice when kids come up to chat with us. Some even asked us to sign their shirts!
Most of all we think about why we do this and who we're doing it for. Those are Joe's hands, he wrote the team's motto - Respect, Discipline, Proudly Pinoy on his bandages.

On behalf of the 2011 Volcanoes 7s team, I'd like to thank all of our supporters for getting behind us and helping us achieve the success we have had this year.

Everyone's encouragement gives the boys extra incentive to train and play harder to reach our goals!

With these results we hope to grow the sport in the Philippines to one day become a world force like New Zealand and Australia!

See you all next season, can't wait :-)

-- Oli

I'd just like to thank all our fans for your support. These silver medals are even more special knowing we play for all Filipinos living at home and abroad.

Without you, these achievements would not be possible. Please continue to support your Volcanoes and we hope we can continue to make you proud.

Maraming salamat :-)

-- Jake

One of our traditions after each tournament is to give awards to members of the team whose performance stood out on the pitch. Of course, all the members contribute to the team's success, but it's always nice to recognize those who gave a little something extra.

The Daisy Award went to Joe Matthews, for being an absolute legend on his first ever tour as a Philippine Volcano.

This award was given by Team Manager, Noel Flowers
(flowers --> daisy.. get it? :-D)

Chooky's Choice was ever-dependable Matty Saunders -- intercept, support, score tries -- did we miss anything?

This award was given by National Coach, Matt Cullen whose nickname is Chooky because... nevermind, it's a long story.

Player of the Tournament was awarded to Chris Hitch for... well... let's just say he's not called
The Hitchanator for nothing :-)

Congratulations, gents. Job well done!!!

Thanks to everyone for your support and
Congratulations to Japan for winning the Cup at the Borneo Sevens 2011!!!

"The Philippines were very fit and very physical..." --Takayuki Yamauchi, Japan Captain
What a gracious bunch of guys. This is one of the things that we love about Rugby -- you try to slay each other
on the pitch, and then you party together afterwards :-)

A bit of trivia: Did you know that the Japan (and Hong Kong) players all wore GPS (Global Positioning System)
devices under their uniforms? The device tracks their movements on the pitch, then the data is downloaded
and used for post-match analysis :-O

Here are some photos from the pitch. More soon...
